Our multidimensional Anniversary Bodog Red is a powerful blend. It’s rich, ripe and refreshing with luscious characters of plump cherry and blackberry on the nose. It’s savory on the palate with spicy fruit accents of black licorice, clove, anise and cinnamon. Its earthy finish is smoky-soft, with a hint of creamy-vanilla-oak complexity that will arouse your senses, and provoke warm feelings.

Winemaker Notes
This wine is comprised of individual barrels I have been saving for this blend. Each year of production there are barrel lots that stand out to me as Bodog style. The appellation is 100% Napa Valley. But the vintages are 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 blended together to make this Anniversary Bodog. The blend of Bodog changes every year. Since Bodog Spelletich, our Great Great Grandfather was a Freedom Fighter, I have always stuck to a freedom in blending and rarely duplicating any blend since 1993. This wine has a two beautiful Syrah vineyards, three Merlot vineyards and two Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. All the lots have been kept separate from each other until I completed my final blend in December 2013. I love wine with many layers of complexity. Anniversary Bodog is the epitome of a long, fruitful and complex existence showing French and Hungarian oak nuances of spice, toast and vanillin. His essence is black fruits with a refreshing raspberry finish. ~Barb Spelletich~

Other Notes
Named after our great times eight grandfather who was a ‘freedom fighter’, civil rights lawyer and member of parliament in Hungary. Bodog immigrated to the United States with his family to escape the Monarchists death sentence in 1849. The current Spelletich coat of arms is dedicated to this courageous and independent young man
